Message Title: How To Play God
Message Truth: Forgiveness does not mean permission; it means a transfer of power.
Message Text: Matthew 6:12
Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
1. Forgiveness is the timeless means by which we all receive forgiveness of sins from God – by faith in Christ.
7 Blessed are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the person the Lord will never charge with sin.” Romans 4:6-8
2. How many of our sins have been forgiven in Christ? All our sins.
13 And when you were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive with him and forgave us all our trespasses.” Colossians 2:13
- Forgiving others takes back control of your mind, Soul and Body
“…and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5
4. We put on the attributes of Christ and forgive freely as a living “thank you” in our lives, because God forgave us.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
The Stages of Forgiveness
- Forgiveness
- Repentance
- Reconciliation
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
