Message Title: What King Jesus Came to Do
Message Text: Matthew 2:1-12
Message Thoughts: The great controversy of the universe is who will have authority. Will we surrender to the authority of King Jesus or rebel in sin and seek to establish our own Kingdom authority?
Jesus has always been King, but the King appeared in creation to:
1.Renew our Relationship to God
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. 2 Timothy 1:3-5
15 This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. 16 But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:15-17
2.Restore a corrupted Creation
18 Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. 19 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. 20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. 22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” Romans 8:18-22
3.Reign (rule)for all Eternity
The essence of sin is our attempt to take God’s place on the throne. The Gospel is God taking our place on the cross. When Jesus rose from the grave, it was a public declaration that nothing could stop Gods reign advancing on earth.
The goal is heaven and earth coming together “Behold I make all things new” Revelation 21:5
What about now?
Jesus Kingdom blessing comes where Jesus Kingdom rules.
