Message Title: How To Give God What He Wants Most
Message Truth: Jesus became like us so that we could become like Him.
Message Text: Romans 12:1-21
1.Surrendered To God (v.1) – This is about your relationship with God.
Principle: Surrender is the channel in which Gods biggest and best blessings flow.
“Surrender is not commitment” by saying that while commitment involves a conscious decision to actively pursue a goal or path, surrender means letting go of your own will and fully trusting in God’s plan, even when it might not align with your own desires; it’s more about yielding to a higher power than actively striving to achieve something.
Key points to remember:
- Commitment is active: It requires effort, planning, and consistent action to achieve a goal.
- Surrender is passive: It involves releasing control and trusting God to guide your life, even when you don’t understand the situation.
Example explanation:
“You can be committed to going to church every Sunday, but true surrender means not only attending but also fully embracing God’s will for your life, even if it means making significant changes or facing challenges.”.
2.Separate from the World (v.2) This is about your relationship with the world’s values
Principle: The quality of our lives comes from trusting Christ or culture.
3.Sober in Judgment (vv.3-8) This is about your relationship with yourself.
Principle: When I think too highly of myself, it always results in relational conflict and disunity.
4.Serving in Love (vv.9-13) This is about your relationship with other believers.
Principle: I can never be loved unless people know who I am-the real me, not who I am pretending to be, to gain people’s approval.
5.Supernaturally Responding to Evil with Good (vv.14-21) This is about your relationship with unbelievers.
Principle: We overcome evil by standing for truth in love.
