• When you take freedom for granted, not only do you disrespect the people who died to attain it, but you lose it. 

Message Truth: Peace should not be purchased at the sacrifice of truth. 

Message Text: “Buy the truth and do not sell it.” –Proverbs 23:23 

A BIBLICAL DEFINITION So what is truth?  

Here is a simple definition drawn from what the Bible teaches: truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God. 

1.Prize the Truth 

• “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31–32). See the value of it. 

2.Protect the Truth 

• Isaiah 59:12-16
  

• The Gospel is the message of Truth (Ephesians 1:13) 
• The Church is the Pillar of truth (1 Timothy 3:15) 

• The Holy Spirit is the guide to all truth (John 16:13) 
• Jesus is the Person of Truth (John 14:6) 
• Bear witness to the truth (John 18:37) 

3.Preserve the Truth 

Preserve – Maintaining something to its original state. 

There are only two ways to live: 

1.Shape the truth to match my desires 

2.Shape my desires to match the truth.
