Message Title: What It Means to Be Great
Message Text: Romans 12:1-8, Ecclesiastes 11:1-6
Message Truth: What might your life be like if you cast your bread in the midst of wind and clouds.
Four Motivations for Serving
- Because Jesus did –”For the son of man came to serve and not be served.” Mark 10:45, Luke 22:24-27
- This is the way of the Kingdom
24 Then they began to argue among themselves about who would be the greatest among them. 25 Jesus told them, “In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’ 26 But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. 27 Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.” Luke 22:24-27
- It’s one of Gods way of mortifying (killing) selfishness – “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
- You will be blessed –”A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25)
What Keeps Us from Serving?
1.Selfishness
2.Pride
3.Presumption
4.Fear
God is not asking me to accomplish great things, just go out there when its windy, cloudy and put my bread out there.
